Those Who Start With You May Not End With You

Though many years have passed, I can recall that day when a friend flew into Saint Vincent and The Grenadines to “have lunch” with me as I began pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.

The restaurant’s view was magnificent; the food was delicious; oh, what a beautiful day it was as we sat near the Arnos Vale Airport watching air crafts fly in and out. His first words were, ” 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”

He then shared his story about his life as a young adult serving as a Teller at a local bank, living a life styled for entertainment, spending all of his fortunes on “the good times” and “those who had no greater vision,” all just living the “comfortable life.”

He stated that he soon realized that this life and lifestyle were not what he deserved, he resigned and enrolled at an Aviation Academy. He said, “in a matter of one week, just like those aircraft, “cool and the gang” had departed, but what was critical at that time is that he understood that he wanted to grow and transform rather than recycle old limiting habits and friendships.

Like the departing people, you need to depart taking a one-way flight to get to your destination.

When you get to that destination, if they are there, you will enjoy that reconnection, and if they are not, then who said that you cannot make new connections where you are now?
